Rainbow over Sonoran Desert

My name is Doug Backlund, a wildlife photographer, retired wildlife biologist, and amateur astronomer. I’ve been an active birder for over 50 years and have photographed many of the species found in North America. I also enjoy hunting for and photographing new species of butterflies, herps, mammals, and just about anything in the natural world. My home state is South Dakota but since I retired in 2010 I have been spending my winters in Arizona. Most of my photography can be seen at www.wildphotosphotography.com. I am starting this new site as a means of reporting my travels and showing new photos that will give the viewer a chance to comment. A list of recent posts is shown below.

This is an image of the Helix Nebula I created with a Celestron C8 + .63 focal reducer, Canon 7D MII camera, Losmandy G11 mount, guiding with LaCerta MGEN III, about 10 hours of exposures stacked and processed in Images Plus.
